Colorful bottles of essential oils in a softly lit space

The Little Spark That Started HoneyDrop

I can't remember exactly how I first discovered essential oils, but I remember the jolt of it. Even as a kid, the idea that a scent could shift something in you felt astonishing. Essential oils were one of the first things that made me realize how alive the world actually is, how something that small and that natural could make you feel calmer, or brighter, or more like yourself, with just one breath. That stuck with me.

When I got my first job and my first debit card, I didn't spend it on the usual teenage things. My first ever online purchase was a little set of essential oils and a tiny diffuser. It was such a private obsession that I don't think anyone knew except my mom, who saw the box show up in the mail. I didn't have words for it yet, but something in me already knew these scents meant something. They felt like a doorway into who I was becoming.

That fascination didn't fade as I got older. It deepened. I kept collecting oils, learning them, noticing how each one shifted my mood or softened the edges of a hard day. Eventually I realized it wasn't just about liking a good smell. It was about wanting something real. A pure plant distillation is nature actually expressing itself. Essential oils feel alive in a way synthetic fragrance never does. They don't just sit on top of a moment. They change it.

That's why they ended up so woven into HoneyDrop. It wasn't a branding decision. It was more like a piece that had already been there, waiting to be noticed. When I started making products, essential oils found their way into everything without me having to think twice about it. Of course they belonged. Of course they were part of this.

HoneyDrop grew out of that long, quiet relationship with scent. Every product is made with intention and care, meant to do more than smell good. Essential oils ground you, brighten you, soothe you. They interact with your body in a way synthetic fragrance simply can't. They bring a product to life and bring you into the moment you're actually in.

And in a bigger way, they remind me of something I keep coming back to. The things we're drawn to without knowing why don't just inspire us. They reveal us. They're carrying a piece of a future we can't see the shape of yet, pointing at what makes us who we are and what we're supposed to be paying attention to.

HoneyDrop is one of those pieces for me. A spark from childhood that quietly waited until it finally made sense. Proof that when you follow the small, strange things that stir something in you, you end up building a life that actually feels like yours.

What's your spark?

XO,
Kate
